Discover diverse women’s stories tucked amongst the streets and parks of Banyule and beyond.

This event is supported by a Banyule City Council Arts and Culture Project Grant.

Mother Tongue is celebrating National Poetry Month

with a pop-up of women’s poetry

1. The Workshops

Begin or deepen your own writing practice. Join 5 of our talented local writers for a series of workshops at the Ivanhoe Library.

Book your spot now as places are very limited.

2. The Poetry Hunt

This August find 15 poems scattered through Ivanhoe, Bellfield, Heidelberg West, Heidelberg Heights, Rosanna, Heidelberg and Bulleen).

When you find a poem, scan the QR code to mark that it has been found and to get a secret gift!

3. The Coffee Cups

5 local cafes will become host to the Voices in the Streets coffee cups featuring 5 different poems from 5 diverse local writers.

Buy your coffee as usual and get art where you would usually get advertising.

The Cups

Find art where you would usually get advertising!

In partnership with 5 participating cafes, you can get your daily coffee in one of our Art Cups.

Featuring the writings of one of our 5 workshop facilitators, these cups give you access to a creative and diverse perspective on life, all whilst enjoying your morning coffee.
